Do I have access to Bloomberg Law, Lexis+, or Westlaw after I graduate from law school?

 

Bloomberg Law, Lexis+, and Westlaw each provides a limited period of post-graduate access. Details are provided below but additional questions should be directed to the respective database representative.

 

Bloomberg Law Graduate Program:

Bloomberg Law allows all students graduating in May 2022 to have uninterrupted access through November 30, 2022.

Students are allowed to use their academic account in a:

  • Firm 
  • Corporation 
  • Judicial clerkship 
  • Any other employer setting

LexisNexis Graduate Program:

Graduates are invited to continue accessing lexisnexis.com/LawSchool with their student ID for ongoing free use of Lexis+, including all of the products and features available as a student, through December 31, 2022. All law students have automatic extended access. With LexisNexis, no registration is required, there are no restrictions, and no limits on your research time. Make sure your employer approves of using a personal academic account for research.

When graduates sign on to lexisnexis.com/LawSchool after June 30, they will see a new Graduate Homepage. In support of their legal career, graduates can choose between four gifts featured on the Graduate Homepage:

  • Extended access to Law360
  • Lexis Practice Advisor
  • Lexis for Microsoft Office
  • or one of 13 LexisNexis eBooks.

Westlaw Grad Elite Program:

You can use Thomson Reuters products, including Westlaw and Practical Law, for six months after graduation through November 30, 2022. Your "Grad Elite" access gives you 60-hours of usage per month, with no restrictions against using them for professional purposes. When not in an active research session, be sure to use the SIGN OFF button. The 60 hours will continue to run even when you are not in an active research session if you leave the Westlaw window open and running while doing other work. These tools include:

  • Westlaw
  • Practical Law
  • Practical Law Connect
  • Drafting Assistant Essential
  • Doc and Form Builder
  • ProView
  • West LegalEdCenter (one-year, CLE credits cannot be earned)

Note that you must extend your Westlaw access by logging in at http://www.lawschool.tr.com
